Angela Nuzzarello, MD: a-nuzzarello@northwestern.edu
Associate Dean of Student Programs and Professional Development

Dr. Nuzzarello can assist you in many aspects of career counseling.  She is happy to meet with students who are deciding on a specialty as well as those individuals who would like guidance on planning the M3 or M4 year.  As the primary person responsible for the application and match process, she handles specific questions regarding the logistics of either process.  Dr. Nuzzarello  co-teaches the M3 Career Development course, which provides information on navigating Web-based resources to help in the process of specialty choice (including the AAMC Careers in Medicine Program), and can assist students with identifying mentors/advisors, creating a curriculum vita and personal statement, and applying for a residency program.

Director of Academic and Career Counseling

In addition to general medical student career and academic counseling, Sandra LaBlance serves as the Feinberg liaison to the AAMC Careers in Medicine Program.  In her role, she co-teaches the M3 Career Development course, oversees the career development website and offers seminars and one-on-one counseling for students interested in:
  • Self-assessment and Self-evaluation Through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
  • Writing the Personal Statement
  • Fundamentals of the Curriculum Vitae for Residency
  • The Medical Specialty Career Decision Making Process

In addition, Ms. LaBlance oversees the coordination of the M1/M2  "Medical Specialty Information Sessions" scheduled for Friday afternoons throughout the academic year.

Marianne Green, MD: m-green@northwestern.edu
Assistant Dean of Medical Education

Dr. Green can help in many aspects of career advising. She has responsibility for the development and improvement of the database which tracks Feinberg students and the residency programs in which they have matched.  She is interested in helping students assess their competitiveness for residency programs.  Dr. Green helps conduct mock interviews and reviews CVs and personal statements.  She is available to meet with students individually to discuss their residency choice.

Administrative Assistant

Ms. Hill serves as the administrative source for all Feinberg students applying for residency and going through the match process.

  • Resource for student questions and concerns related to the residency application process.
  • Provides updated information regarding the application and match services: ERAS, SFMatch, CAS, and AUA.
  • Manages data collection and data entry for students' residency applications, including letters of recommendation, transcripts, MSPE, and student photos. Scans all information into the ERAS system and manages student files as they relate to the residency application. 
  • Assists students in all administrative responsibilities for the residency application and match process.

Specialty Career Advising
