Prerequisites

To assist the Admissions Committee in selecting candidates who have a high probability of success, and to prepare applicants for the program, the following courses are required for admission.
Behavioral Sciences -- 12 semester hours
One course in general psychology (not abnormal psychology)
One course in human or child development (e.g., developmental psychology, human growth and development)
Additional courses in psychology, sociology (e.g., abnormal psychology, organizational behavior, family relationships, medical sociology) or anthropology (e.g., cultural diversity, social networks, intergenerational interactions)
Biological Sciences -- 12 semester hours
Must include introductory courses in human, mammalian or vertebrate anatomy and physiology. If a combined anatomy/physiology course is taken, applicants must complete two semesters. If anatomy and physiology are separate courses, one semester of each must be completed.
Laboratory experience in anatomy is required.
Botany courses are not accepted for the biological science requirement.
Calculus -- 3 semester hours
Chemistry -- 8 semester hours
General chemistry coursework must be included.
Courses must include laboratory experience.
Organic chemistry and biochemistry are recommended, but not required.
Composition/Writing -- 3 semester hours
Physics -- 8 semester hours
Course content must include mechanics, electricity, magnetism, heat, light and sound waves.
Either trigonometry-level or calculus-level physics is acceptable, however calculus physics will be more beneficial for this program.
Courses must include laboratory experience.
Statistics -- 3 semester hours
This course may be taken in any department.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
All applicants must be certified in CPR, and certification must be current. CPR certification must be through the American Heart Association (Health Care Provider) or American Red Cross (Professional Rescuer).
Students are responsible for maintaining CPR certification while enrolled in the Program.
Medical Terminology
Although we do not require a course in medical terminology, accepted students must pass a proficiency test in medical terminology at the time of enrollment.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy is intense and rigorous. Prerequisites are designed to prepare applicants for the program.
