PhD level graduate study is available in a newly established specialization in Movement and Rehabilitation Science within the Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience (NUIN) umbrella program. The degree specialty comprises faculty and resources from several units including NUIN, the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences, the Department of Physiology, the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and other affiliated units across the Chicago and Evanston campuses of Northwestern. The laboratories affiliated with MRS represent a broad array of research interests for fundamental and clinically applied experimental and modeling studies focused on movement and its rehabilitation. Students interested in earning a doctoral degree specialized in Movement and Rehabilitation Science apply for admission to Northwestern University directly through NUIN (http://www.northwestern.edu/nuin/index.htm). The degree specialty draws students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines including physical therapy, occupational therapy and other health professions, exercise science, biomechanics, engineering, and the basic sciences. The program focuses on research training, and content areas are created to match the interests of both the student and sponsoring faculty member. All admitted NUIN students specializing in Movement and Rehabilitation Science are given a graduate student fellowship that covers tuition costs and a stipend for living. The stipend will continue throughout the student's studies provided he/she remains in good academic standing. Medical insurance is also provided.
