| The WFO strives to meet the needs of its members through, to name a few, education, collaboration, and mentoring activities. Sponsored by and reporting to the medical administration of Northwestern, the WFO has the following objectives: - Identify and define issues or problems germane to the medical school's women faculty and recommend solutions or actions.
- Draft policy dealing with women's issues.
- Create an ombudsman and/or counseling service for women faculty members.
- Organize and sponsor seminars and workshops on women's issues in medicine and academia for women faculty members, students, and graduate medical education trainees.
- Communicate and collaborate on women's issues in medicine and science with medical school alumnae through the Office of Alumni Relations.
- Develop networking and mentoring programs for women faculty members through print and electronic media as well as seminars and meetings.
- Establish and strengthen liaisons with existing local and national medical women's organizations.
