Patient Care

The Department of Urology strives to provide the best possible care available to its patients. In this section, you will find descriptions of our medical services, pertinent patient information, and information on current clinical trials.

Medical Services and Centers

The Department of Urology has created centers with specific scopes of treatments for specific urological problems. We hope that these continuing developments will improve our delivery of patient care.

We have the distinction of being one of the first specialty departments at the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation to incorporate the EPIC electronic medical record system, which better serves physicians and patients in enabling healthcare providers to both access and record all patient information, office procedures, visits, and pathology/laboratory reports electronically. This system combines and organizes all components of paper charts (dictation, written notes, pathology reports, and laboratory results) into an easily accessible computer database, and allows each physician the ability to promptly recall patient data without the need for a paper chart.

Clinical Trials

The Northwestern Center for Clinical Research (NCCR), located on Northwestern's downtown campus, coordinates most of the current clinical trials for the Department of Urology. Support and services include a full complement of clinical research staff, including physicians, clinical nurse coordinators, research assistants, data managers, and laboratory and radiology technicians as well as well-equipped examining rooms to see research patients. Laboratory services include phlebotomy and specimen processing, electrocardiography, bone densitometry, routine x-ray films, and pulmonary function testing.  Please click the link below for more information on current clinical trials.
