| The Department of Family Medicine of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine allocates $1500 merit-based scholarships for Feinberg medical students wishing to pursue either an international rotation or a global public health experience at an approved site in a medically underserved area. The Hillside Health Care clinic in Belize, the Centro Medico Humberto Parra in Bolivia and several Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights locations are pre-approved sites in underserved areas. Please contact the Department of Family Medicine at 312-503-1474 for information on approval of other locations. This fellowship supports the Family Medicine foci on improving the health and welfare of communities and health as a human right. We encourage applications that highlight project sustainability and community partnerships. The Department of Family Medicine believes that physicians should think globally and act locally. Proposals that highlight the project’s connections and benefit to both global and Chicago communities are more likely to be successful. We also particularly value projects that work with individuals living in Chicago who emigrated from the project or rotation country abroad. Applications are due by May 1, 2008. The Department of Family Medicine will select award recipients by June 1, 2008. Please note this scholarship is only open to Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine students.
