Greetings from the Department Chair,
M. Christine Stock, MD, FCCP, FCCM

Welcome to the Department of Anesthesiology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine (NUFSM).

Our Department offers outstanding advanced and categorical residency training programs. Our residents gain clinical experience at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the new Prentice Women's Hospital, which opened in October 20, 2007, and Children's Memorial Hospital, which although currently located 3 miles northwest of NUFSM, is being built adjacent to Prentice Women's Hospital. We look forward to the opening of the new Children's Memorial Hospital in 2012 when residents who match in our program will participate in the transition and train in the new, state-of-the-art medical facility. I encourage you to learn more about our Great Academic Medical Center by viewing a video narrated by J. Larry Jameson, MD, Phd, Vice President for Medical Affairs, on the NUFSM website... Read More

Greetings from the Residency Program Director, John Sullivan, MD, MBA

I am proud to be a part of a team of dedicated physicians and educators who have built a premier anesthesia training program at Northwestern University.

We are delighted that you are interested in our residency. It will be evident when you visit us that we have thoughtfully constructed a graduate medical education program that will prepare you to become an accomplished anesthesiologist.

The specific elements of anesthesia residency at Northwestern include a clinical caseload that is superb in both volume and complexity and institutional resources to support a thorough, structured didactic program. We are constantly striving to improve the delivery of anesthetic care and invest in innovative educational processes.  Most importantly, though, we promote a departmental culture that reflects our passion about developing people; we recognize that our residents are our most valuable assets and we manage our organization accordingly...
