| 1921 | The General Alumni Association of Northwestern University was formed, and the Medical School Alumni Association voted to become an affiliated branch. |

| 1931 | The Alumni Council, the local governing body of the Medical School Alumni Association, was formed. |

| 1936 | The Alumni Council established the Medical Alumni Office. |

| 1937 | The Alumni Council created the Alumni Fund. |

| 1942 | The Half-Century Club was organized to honor graduates of 50 years' standing. |

| 1965 | The Nathan Smith Davis Club was founded "to promote the welfare of the Medical School of Northwestern University and its student body" through annual contributions. |

| 1990 | The Alumni Council established the National Board to replace itself for governance. |

| 1991 | Walter Doren, MD'61, GME'66, became the first president selected in a national election. The new National Board met for the first time on May 11. |
